Ignition Discharge Module
Ignition discharge module
To remove
1 Switch off the ignition.
2 Remove the ignition discharge module's four retaining bolts.
3 Remove the bolt and clamp securing the wiring.
4 Undo the grounding bolt for the ignition discharge module's wiring.
5 Unplug the two connectors.
6 Remove the ignition discharge module.
To fit
Fit in reverse order.
Ignition discharge module tightening torque 12 Nm (8.9 lbf if)
Binding connectors
On M91 and earlier models the ignition discharge module has two 4-pin connectors. On account of their design featuring round pins, these connectors
may display a tendency to work loose. They are also difficult to unplug due to their insulation and seals.
Proceed as follows to unplug the connectors:
1 Open the cover on the connector and remove the leads one at a time from the rear.
2 Finally, separate the connector halves.
