Steering Swivel Member: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Slacken the centre nut when the car is standing on all four wheels.
2. Lift the car. If a jack is used the car should be supported on axle stands.
3. Remove the wheel.
4. Remove the center nut.
5. Take away the brake caliper by easing back the brake piston using a pair of grips. Then, undo the two bolts securing the brake caliper to the 

steering swivel member. Tie the brake caliper to the spring using a suitable piece of wire.

6. Remove the locating studs and the brake disc retaining screw. Lift off the brake disc.
7. The ABS sensor retaining bolt should be removed and the sensor lifted up.
8. Remove the four screws that hold the hub to the steering swivel member.
9. Pull the hub off the drive shaft using puller Part No. 879 128 7 and puller arm Part No. 87 91 303. Remove the disc back-plate.

10. Remove the nut that holds the track rod ends to the steering swivel member and remove the track rod ends using ballpoint separator No. 899 5409.

If needed fit a spacer under the bolt.
