(Ball Socket Replacement Only) Remove the retaining spring securing the inner locking ring. Undo the locking ring by turning it counterclockwise
and lifting out, Figure 4.

NOTE

Upon installation of the inner locking ring, note the position of the spring under the stops. Lubricate with light assembly grease.

Replace the gear lever in reverse order and check the operation of the gear lever and gear positions.

Changing the Gear Lever Knob

After the gear lever assembly has been removed from the car, proceed as follows:

Clamp the gear lever in a vice, Figure 5.

2.

Wrap fabric tape around the flanged section of the driver immediately below the gear lever knob. This will prevent the flange from being
damaged/scratched when the knob is removed, Figure 6.
