Valves are illustrated in their positions when the selector lever is set to neutral.

The throttle control valve is used for sensing engine load conditions, i.e. traction or engine braking and, by means of restrictions, controls pressure
supply to the time control valve and to brake C'. This achieves a shorter or longer operating time for the time control valve damper and brake C' (see
drawing).
