Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair
General
REMOVAL
1. Unplug the radiator fan electrical connection and, if there is an ignition coil, the HT lead beside the distributor cap.
2. Unplug the boost pressure control valve electrical connection, remove the boost pressure control valve from its mounting on the cowling and move
the valve to one side turbo models only.
3. Remove the upper retaining screws from the fan cowling, bend out the cowling a little and undo the clip on the radiator fan cable assembly.
4. Raise the car, remove the center air deflector and remove the lower retaining screw from the fan cowling.
5. Lower the car and lift the fan cowling complete with radiator fan.
6. Undo the nuts securing the radiator fan to the fan cowling, detach the resistor (2-speed radiator fan), remove the switches from the fan cowling and
remove the radiator fan.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the radiator fan, press the switches onto the fan cowling, install the resistor (2-speed radiator fan) and do up the nuts securing the radiator
fan to the fan cowling.
2. Place the fan cowling complete with the radiator fan in position and raise the car.
3. Do up the lower fan cowling retaining screw, install the center air deflector and lower the car.
4. Press down the radiator fan cable assembly clip and do up the other retaining screws.
5. Install the boost pressure control valve on the cowling and connect it turbo models only.
6. Connect the HT lead to the distributor cap and install the radiator fan electrical connection.
