Governor: Description and Operation
2-Stage Governor
STAGE 1
System pressure is supplied unchanged through the stage 2 valve to stage 1. The valve in stage 1 is opened by centrifugal force. The pressure on the
differential area of the valve counteracts the centrifugal force, and thus reduces system pressure to governor pressure.
STAGE 2
Above a certain speed, the valve for stage 1 is moved outwards fully, thus providing a free flow path. System pressure, which increases with speed,
presses the valve for stage 2 inwards against the centrifugal force and spring force. System pressure is thus reduced to governor pressure.
