After-Run Coolant Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Loosen the expansion tank cap and raise the car.
2. Remove the center air deflector, place a drip tray under the radiator and open the radiator drain plug. Lower the car.
3. Disconnect the battery leads and remove the battery.
4. Remove the pump by undoing the bolt and unhooking the pump bracket from the battery tray.
5. Pull the pump forwards, detach the coolant hoses and unplug the electrical connection.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the electrical connection to the pump and connect the coolant hoses.
2. Install the coolant pump to the battery tray.
3. Reinstall the battery and connect the leads.
4. Raise the car, check that the radiator drain plug is tightened and install the center air deflector.
5. Lower the car, top up the coolant and check the system for leaks.
6. Bleed the system as follows:
a. Fill the system to the MAX level. Install the pressure cap. Start the engine and run it until warm, preferably at varying accelerator settings, until
the radiator fan starts.
b. Remove the pressure cap and refill to MAX.
c. Install the pressure cap and let the engine run at varying accelerator settings until the radiator fan has started a further three times.
d. Switch off the engine and refill to the MAX level if necessary.
