Rear Bearing (On Vehicle)

REPLACEMENT

1. Lift the car. If a jack is used the car must be supported on axle stands.
2. Remove the four bolts (A) securing the reinforcement plate and remove the plate. Older models have six bolts. Remove all six bolts on these cars.
3. Remove the nut securing the rear bearing and the washer.
4. Bend down the suspension arm and remove the bearing.
5. Fit a new bearing. The side with the groove in the rubber bush should face to the rear of the car.
6. Refit the washer and screw on the nut.

IMPORTANT:  The nut supporting the suspension arm rear mounting must not be tightened before all road wheels are on the floor. Tightening
the nut before the suspension arm has assumed its natural position can result in damage to the rubber on maximum deflection of the arm.

7. Fit the reinforcement plate and tighten the four bolts (A). On earlier model cars tighten the six bolts (B).
8. Lower the car.
9. Tighten the nut securing the rear mounting with all four wheels on the floor.

Tightening torques: 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.)
