Trip Computer: Description and Operation
EDU 2 Trip Computer
The trip computer can be controlled by means of the two "R" and "INFO" buttons located below the clock. Beside these buttons is a sensor which adjusts
the brightness of the display in the daytime to suit prevailing light conditions. When driving in the dark, the brightness of the display can be regulated by
means of the rheostat for the instrument lighting.
The trip computer provides the following information:
Left-hand part of the display:
-
Fuel consumption (current and average).
-
Battery voltage (and battery condition).
-
Range on remaining fuel.
-
Outside temperature.
Upper right-hand part of the display:
-
Indication of the gear engaged (cars with automatic transmission).
Lower right-hand part of the display:
-
"Check Engine" warning.
-
"Check Oil Level" warning.
-
"Check Radiator Level" warning.
Battery test
When the ignition is switched on, the trip computer displays the battery voltage. While the engine is being started, the lowest voltage reading obtained is
recorded and this will be displayed until the car pulls away. The computer then reverts to displaying the information previously selected. This
arrangement informs the driver about the condition of the battery.
Changing the units displayed
The information in the left-hand part of the display can be obtained in the following units:

km, ° C and litres
-
miles, ° F and U.S. gallons
-
miles, ° F and Imperial gallons (marked IMP)
Changing between these units is done by pressing the "R" and "INFO" buttons simultaneously for at least 4 seconds.
Changing the information displayed
The information in the left-hand part of the display can be changed by pressing the "INFO" button. The information will then be displayed in the
following order and with the following signs.

Average fuel consumption (l/100 km Phi, Phi MPG, Phi MPG Imp)

Current fuel consumption (l/100 km, MPG, MPG Imp)
-
Range (.km, .ml, .ml)
-
Outside temperature (° C, ° F, ° F)
-
Battery voltage (Volt)

Average fuel consumption is calculated on the basis of the distance covered and the fuel consumed since the last time the computer was reset. On
resetting the computer, three horizontal dashes will appear in the display until the car has covered 200 metres (0.12 miles). If the system is not
reset manually, it will be done automatically when the total amount of fuel consumed reache 1342 litres (1412 qts) or the distance travelled
amounts to 10480 kilometres (6513 miles).

Range is calculated on the basis of the fuel remaining in the tank and average fuel consumption over the past 10 minutes (with the ignition
switched on).

Outside temperature is measured between -40° C (-40° F) and +50° C (+121° F).
Reset
Resetting average fuel consumption and range on remaining fuel Is done by pressing the button marked "R" for at least 4 seconds. As a sign that this has
been done, all figures in the left-hand part of the display light up until the button is released.
Indication of gear engaged
On cars with automatic transmission, the gear currently engaged is displayed in the top right-hand part of the display.
Warning text
The warning text in the bottom right-hand part of the display signifies the following:

"Check Engine" is connected to the fuel injection system. It indicates that certain parts of the system are not performing satisfactorily, such as in
the case of hot-wire failure.

"Check Oil Level" lights up when the engine needs to be topped up with at least 0.5 litres (0.5 qts) of oil. The oil level is monitored when the
