Radiator Cooling Fan Resistor: Service and Repair
Marelli Resistor

1. Drill out the pop rivets securing the fan resistor. Protect the fan blades and the radiator using a metal strip.
2. Unplug the fan resistor cable from the 2 pin connector and cut the other cable about 70 mm from the fan resistor. Do the same on the new, complete

resistor.

3. Transfer the rubber sleeve from one of the cable splices on the new assembly to the cut cable on the new fan resistor. Alternatively, thread on a

suitable shrink tube.

4. Strip off about 10 mm of insulation from both the cables and solder the ends together.

NOTE:  Green cable to green cable and black cable to black cable.

5. Install the rubber sleeve over the solder joint or heat the shrink hose.
6. Install the fan resistor on the fan cowling using pop rivets.
7. Plug in the 2 pin connector and secure the cables with a cable tie.
8. Run the engine until it is warm and check if the radiator fan is working.
