Changing the upper engine mount bushing
Cars affected
All Saab 9000 M85-98.
Background
The engine mount bushing on certain cars can separate, causing possible noise or vibration. A description of the method for changing the upper engine
mount bushing has not been available earlier but is now described in this Service Information.
To address a customer complaint, use the following procedure.
Tools
83 95 477 Tool for removing/fitting bushing, torque arm
This tool is available for ordering directly from Kent-Moore at 1-800-345-2233.
Procedure
Some parts must be removed on certain engine variants before the bushing can be changed, for example:

sections of the intake manifold
-
fuel pressure regulator
-
fuel rail with pressure regulator
-
fuel system pulsator
In addition, the engine in certain cars must be pressed slightly to the left of the car to provide more clearance at the engine mounting.
Refer to service manual for model being serviced for correct procedure and torque arm removal.
Important
Before using the tool, its threaded end must be lubricated with grease 87 81 676.
