HANDLING OF CONTROL MODULES

All control modules are more or less sensitive to electrostatic discharges and if they are handled incorrectly may be damaged so seriously that they
no longer work properly. It is therefore important for the following rules to be followed whenever the control module has to be removed or
replaced for any reason.

Avoid disconnecting or removing the control module unless this is absolutely necessary.

Never touch the connector pins and never position the control module in such a way that the pins can come into contact with foreign objects.

Before unpacking a new control module, ground the packaging to the car body and open the packaging as shortly as possible before fitting the
control module in place.

When doing any work involving a control module, it is important to ground yourself at regular intervals. This is particularly important when
you have been sitting in the car, when you have changed position or moved around the car and even more important under climatic conditions
when the air is exceptionally dry (e.g. during the winter in countries with a cold climate).

Avoid wearing clothes made of synthetic materials (man-made fibres).

Avoid wearing shoes with insulating rubber soles.

^

Control modules that are suspected of being faulty should always be handled with the same care as one that is in perfect working order. This
will greatly increase the chances of locating the cause of the fault.
