Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection
WARNING:
Work only in a well-ventilated area. If approved equipment for the extraction of fuel vapors is available, be sure to sue it.
Wear protective gloves. Prolonged contact with fuel can cause skin irritation or dermatitis.
Keep a class BE fire extinguisher near at hand. Be mindful of the danger of sparks caused by short circuits and when connecting and disconnecting leads,
etc. on electrical equipment.
No smoking anywhere in the vicinity.
1. Remove the fuel rail with injectors.
2. Start the fuel pump by connecting a jumper lead between fuses 14 and 18, using special tool 83 93 886. Check that the injectors do not leak.
3. Position the injectors one by one over a measuring flask and connect each injector in turn to battery voltage by means of test cables 86 11 410 and
86 11 345. Activate the injector for exactly 30 seconds. Then check whether the quantity of fuel in the measuring flask is 176 ± 14 milliliters. The
maximum permissible difference between the injectors is 18 milliliters.
4. Change any defective injectors.
5. Refit the fuel-injection rail and injectors. Be careful to fit the right connectors to the right injectors.
