Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Description and Operation
Idle Speed Control
IDLE SPEED CONTROL
Idling speed is controlled via a single-coil idle air control valve by means of a PWM signal from the control module.
Automatic idle speed control is adaptive, i.e. it adapts continuously to the changes which take place throughout the life of the engine such as
engine wear, dirt or leakage in the intake manifold or throttle body.
The control module is programmed to maintain idling speed at a constant 85O +/- 50 rpm when the engine is warmed up and the throttle position
sensor indicates the idling position.
Engine speed compensation takes place on engagement of the A/C system when any gear position besides P and N is selected on cars with
automatic transmission and when the control module activates the secondary air injection pump.
