Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair
Adjustment Of Throttle Cable Using A Modified Tool
1. Detach the gaiter from the throttle body and move it aside.
2. Press down the throttle lever to the kick-down position and insert tool 87 91 980 into the throttle body. The "UPP" marking on the tool should be
in alignment with the casting seam on the throttle body.
3. Slacken the stop nut on the throttle cable and press the guide downwards until the wide open throttle position is felt (the wide open throttle
position can be felt just before the kick-down position).
4. Tighten the nut while holding the guide in the wide open throttle position.
5. Press the throttle lever down and remove the tool from the throttle body. Carefully return the throttle lever to its normal position.
6. Refit the gaiter on the throttle body.
