Assembly

1. Press the tapered roller bearings onto the pinion shaft gear wheel.

Use installing sleeve tool No. 87 92 202, or equivalent, and a press.

2. Press the tapered roller bearings onto the pinion shaft.

Use installing ring tool No. 87 90 982, or equivalent, in a press.

3. Install both the pinion shaft bearing races and drive them in using a plastic hammer.

-

It may be necessary to heat the gear case.

4. Install the pinion shaft in the transmission and adjust pinion preload
