Transmission Cooler: Service and Repair
Air Cooled Fluid Cooler
NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.
Removal
1. Raise the car.
2. Remove the center cover panel in the spoiler.
3. Clean hose connections to radiator.
4. Clamp the hoses connected to the radiator.
5. Detach the front hose connection (return hose) from the radiator.

Use a backup wrench holding tool when undoing the banjo screw.
6. Detach the two 6 mm screws radiator from the engine radiator.

Fold down the radiator and hold a receptacle under the connection (about 2 dl of fluid runs out).
7. Detach the rear hose connection and remove the radiator.
CAUTION: Use a backup wrench holding tool on line connections.
Installation
NOTE: Installation is in reverse order, noting the following:
1. Damaged seals are changed in the banjo connections (compensate for fluid spillage).
Tightening torque, banjo screw: 15-25 Nm (11-18 ft. lbs.)
2. Top up fluid.
3. Run until warm to check transmission fluid thermostat (if equipped) function and to check that connections are not leaking.
