Valve Body: Service and Repair
Overhaul
General Rules
There are several designs of valve body. Depending on design, the shape and number of components may vary slightly. For example, two springs may
have been replaced with one spring.
CAUTION:
-
Do not mix up springs, restrictions and other parts. Despite the fact that some components, e.g. springs, can look identical, they may have different
properties.
-
The valve body is extremely sensitive to contamination. The smallest amount of dirt may impair operation or cause breakdown. It is therefore
extremely important that all valve body components are placed on an extremely clean surface and are then cleaned thoroughly before being
reinstalled.
-
Check that all moving parts move freely. If there are scratches which cause moving parts to seize, these must be removed or the scratched part be
changed. Alternatively, the entire valve body may be changed.

Disassembly
1. Place the valve body on a carefully cleaned workbench.
2. Remove the cover from the upper part of the valve body, five screws.
NOTE: If the gasket under the cover is OK, it need not be changed.
