Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Rear Axle Hubs, Bearings & Seals
1.
Raise rear of vehicle and support at frame.
2.
Remove rear wheels, then disconnect handbrake cable from caliper.
3.
On vehicles with anti lock brakes, disconnect wheel sensor from hub and release lead from bracket on trailing end of spring link.
4.
On all models, remove screw plug, then slightly unscrew adjusting screw in caliper.
5.
Remove caliper from mounting. Hang caliper from torque arm.
6.
Remove brake disc, dust cap, locknut and washer.
7.
Remove hub assembly, using a puller if needed. Hub, bearing, and seals are an integral unit and must be serviced as an assembly.
8.
Reverse procedure to install, torquing bolt and nut to specifications.
