Speedometer Gear, M/T: Service and Repair

NOTE:  Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.

Removal

1. Place the differential in a screw vice with jaw protectors. 

-

Pull out the bearing with puller tool No. 87 92 343, or equivalent.

-

Use support tool No. 87 92 210, or equivalent as a support.

2. Cut up the drive with a saw and remove it.

Installation

1. Warm up the new drive in 50° C water for about 10 minutes.

-

Press the warmed-up drive on to the differential with press tool No. 87 92 236, or equivalent.

2. Press the bearing all the way down with tool 87 91 311, or equivalent.

-

Use support tool as a support.
