Power Window Switch: Description and Operation
The switches are mounted in the center console between the front seats. By means of these switches it is possible to operate all the window lifts, the
sunroof and the rear door fans. On M90- models the door fans are controlled from ACC2. A switch is also provided that enables the window lift switches
in the rear doors to be rendered inoperative. On M95 and later models the switches for the window lifts and sunroof are of the same type as on the Saab
900 M94-.
Electric window lifts
The windows are operated by spring-loaded two-position switches (three-position switch for the driver's door) located in the center console between the
seats.
The electric motors incorporate limit switches which automatically stop the motor when the window has reached the top or bottom limit of its travel. The
motor is also installed with a slip clutch which comes into operation if the window does not move freely.
Automatic window lift control
All model versions with electric window lifts are equipped with a three-way switch and a relay for operating the window in the driver's door (the
passenger's door also on M90- models).
The switch has two contact positions for lowering the window and one for raising it.
The window can be opened as follows:

Light pressure on the switch to the first contact position will cause the window to travel downwards as long as the switch is depressed.

Harder pressure on the switch to the second con- tact position activates the relay and the window will continue to travel downwards even when the
switch is released. Downward movement will be interrupted when the window reaches the bottom limit of its travel or if the switch is depressed for
closing the window.
