If the plate is not stamped, you may inspect the back of the oil filter adapter for a production date code indicated in a circle (see Figure 1). If the
date code reads "4 96", the oil filter adapter must be replaced. If it reads anything other than "4 96", no further action is required other than
stamping the campaign plate to indicate the vehicle has been inspected.
1.
Raise the car and remove the right-hand air deflector (spoiler).
2.
Remove the oil filter.
3.
Remove the adapter housing.
4.
Clean the sealing surface, being sure to remove all gasket material and traces of oil.
5.
Apply Loctite 518 to the sealing surface of the adapter housing.
6.
Change oil pipe's 0-ring and fit the new adapter housing.
7.
Fit a new oil filter. Refit the air deflector. Lower the car to the floor.
8.
Check the oil level in the engine. Refill as necessary.
9.
Warm-up the engine and check for leaks.
