Steering Swivel Member: Service and Repair
NOTE: The numbers found below in parenthesis ( ), refer to the part in the illustrations having that same number.
REMOVAL
1. Slacken the hub centre-nut when all four wheels of the car are on the floor.
2. Raise the car. Unscrew all five wheel bolts and remove the wheel.
3. Unscrew the hub centre-nut fully, remove the wheel sensor (1).
4. Use a pair of slip-joint pliers to press in the brake piston (2). Remove the brake caliper (3) from the swivel member and suspend it from the wheel
housing by means of a cable tie.
5. Remove the brake disc and back plate (4).
6. Slacken the nut on the track rod end. Press out the track rod end bolt, using puller 89 96 696 (5). Remove the nut and lift the track rod end bolt out
of the hole.
