I.
What is the defect?
During certain adverse weather conditions where there is slush, road salt and/or heavy rain, the front brake discs and pads can be coated with a
layer of slush, salt or water. This will result in a delay in braking action that will increase the normal braking distance.
In the interim, before this recall service is performed, please follow these precautions:

Reduce your speed when driving in snow or heavy rain and allow for increased stopping distance.

Periodically, gently apply the brakes, when safe to do so, when driving under the above conditions in order to clean the disc and pad surface.

Should you have any problems, contact your nearest Saab dealer or Saab Roadside Assistance (1-800-852-9001).

What are the safety risks?
A delay in braking action can cause a car crash without warning.
III.
What is Saab going to do?
Saab Cars USA, Inc. has made arrangements with its authorized Saab dealers to remedy this defect without charge to you, beginning July 1, 1994.
We urge you to make an appointment with your Saab dealer to have the original front brake shields replaced with those of a new design as soon
thereafter as conveniently possible. Please bring this letter with you on the day of your appointment.
The dealer will install on both sides a larger front brake cover plate and a small plate at the caliper mounting bolts. While this procedure takes
about 90 minutes to complete, the dealership may need to keep your car longer to inspect other unrelated items, and because of the flow of work in
and out of their service department.

1-800-424-9393 (Washington, D.C. residents may call 366-0123), if you believe that Saab Cars USA, Inc. or any authorized Saab dealer has failed
or is unable to remedy this defect within a reasonable time, which is not longer than 60 days after you first bring your car to your dealer after July
1, 1994.
