REMOVAL
1. Disarm SRS as outlined under "Air Bag System Disarming and Arming.
2. Remove air bag module as outlined under "Air Bag Module, Replace.
3. Position front wheels in straight-ahead position, then disconnect horn connector.
4. Remove steering wheel, then both steering column covers.
5. Disconnect connectors for horn and contact unit Fig. 11.
6. Remove contact unit retaining screws.
7. Remove contact unit.
INSTALLATION
1. Remove transit safety, if any, from contact unit.
2. Install contact unit on bracket, then connect electrical connectors.
3. Install and tighten mounting screws to specifications.
4. Install both steering column covers.
5. Set contact unit to center position as follows:
a. Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position.
b. Turn contact unit clockwise as far as possible, then turn counterclockwise two and one half turns.
6. Install steering wheel. Torque nut to 24-32 ft. lbs.
7. Connect horn connector.
8. Install air bag module as outlined under "Air Bag Module, Replace".
9. Arm SRS as outlined under "Air Bag System Disarming and Arming.
