Correcting a Complaint of a Noise in the Dash or Under the Front Seat.

Application: 
1994-900 Models

Vibration from the front or middle mud flaps against the fender or body can cause a hard to diagnose noise in 900 models. The typical customer
complaint is that there is a "rattle in the dash" or a noise "under the seat." The noise occurs at speeds of approximately 35 miles per hour and above.

If the noise is caused by one or both front mud flaps, it typically sounds like it is coming from the dash or outside the firewall. If the noise is being
caused by one or both center mud flaps, it typically sounds like it is coming from under one or both front seats. A simple test for determining if such a
noise is caused by the mud flaps is to have someone outside the car flick the mud flaps while someone sits inside the car. If the flaps are the cause, the
noise will reoccur.

Cars Affected
1994- 900 models.

Action:

1.

Remove the inside retaining nut on the mud flap(s) causing the noise.

2.

Pull the mud flap away from the fender or body.

3.

Install butyl tape across the width of the contact area with the fender or body.

4.

Press the flap firmly into place.

5.

Re-install and tighten the retaining nut.
