Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Bleeding Brake System
BRAKE BLEED
1. Unscrew the cover of the brake fluid reservoir and top up with brake fluid.
2. Connect the refill shaft (supplied with brake bleeder kit 88 19 096) to the brake fluid reservoir. Position a hose with one end placed in the refill
shaft and on end in a bottle filled with new brake fluid.
3. Lift the car. Connect the brake bleeder hose to the front left wheel and open the nipple. Drain approx. 0.1 l of brake fluid.
4. Take the brake bleeder unit to the front right wheel and open the nipple. Drain approx. 0.1 l brake fluid.
5. Take the brake bleeder unit to the rear left wheel and open the nipple. Drain off approx. 0.05 l brake fluid.
6. Take the brake bleeder unit to the rear right wheel and open the nipple. Drain approx. 0.05 l brake fluid.
7. Lower the car.
Check the brake operation. Depress the brake pedal and check that it does not sink.
8. Remove the topping-up unit, hose and bottle.
9. Adjust the brake fluid level.
