Brake Caliper: Service and Repair

Disassembly

1. Remove the brake caliper.
2. Remove the brake pads.
3. Clean the hydraulic body.
4. Force the piston out with compressed air through the hose connection.

WARNING:  Watch your fingers.

5. Remove the dust cover and piston seal.
6. Check for damage due to wear.

Assembly

1. Lubricate the piston seal with the grease supplied with the kit. Also fill the dust cover with grease.
2. Position the new piston seal in the groove on the brake cylinder.
3. Slip the dust cover onto the piston.
4. Press the collar of the dust cover into the groove on the brake cylinder.
5. Press the piston into the brake cylinder.

NOTE:  It important to install the pistons in the right position in the brake caliper.

6. Replace the brake pads and brake caliper.

Rear
