housing by means of a cable tie.
5. Remove the brake disc and back plate (4).
6. Slacken the nut on the track rod end. Press out the track rod end bolt, using puller 89 96 696 (5). Remove the nut and lift the track rod end bolt out
of the hole.
7. Unscrew the nut securing the anti-roll bar to the suspension arm (6).
8. Undo the nut on the outer ball joint. Install puller 89 96 696 on the link arm and press the ball joint out of the steering swivel member (7).
Unscrew the nut. This nut is of self-locking type and must not be reused.
9. Unscrew the three nuts at the top MacPherson strut mounting (8).
10. Lift out the MacPherson strut and clamp it in a vice. Compress the spring (9), using tool 88 18 791 and holder 88 18 809.
11. Grip the piston rod with a suitable tool and remove the nut (10), using special tool 89 96 662.
NOTE: This nut is of self-locking type and must not be reused.
12. Remove the mounting and the top spring cup.
13. Remove the springs, rubber gaiter and stop.
14. Unscrew the MacPherson strut insert (11), using special tool 89 96 670.
15. Lift the MacPherson strut insert out of the MacPherson strut.
16. Place two pieces of flat or square bar under the MacPherson strut (1).
17. Press the front wheel hub off the wheel bearing (2). Use special tool 89 96 704.
18. Remove the circlips from the MacPherson strut.
19. Remove the wheel bearing from the steering swivel member (3). Use special tool No. 89 96 704, or equivalent.
