Speedometer Head: Testing and Inspection
Fault symptoms
Speedometer needle does not move
Odometer and trip odometer stationary
Diagnostic procedure
1
Jack up LH rear wheel.
2
Unplug the main instrument display panel's three connectors and connect the Intellegent Saab Tester (ISAT) scan tool test leads to pin 7 (14-pin
connector) and ground, then select "TEST" followed by "PULSE". Spin the rear wheel by hand and check whether pulses are generated.
About 30 Hz at 1 revolution per second.
If pulses are generated, proceed to point 5.
3
If no pulses are generated, check the wiring connecting a BOB to the ABS control module 5 connector. The main instrument display panel and
ABS control module should not be connected.
4
Check for open circuit/shorting to ground between pin 7 (14-pin connector) of the main instrument display panel and pin 22 of the ABS control
module.
If the wiring is OK, continue fault diagnosis as described in "Brakes".
