Input Shaft: Service and Repair
Bearing Closest to 1st Gear's Pinion
NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.
Disassembly
1. Place the shaft in the press with press ring tool No. 87 91 121 and fixture (mother tool) tool No. 87 90 636, or equivalents.
2. Press out the bearing from the shaft.
Assembly
1. Install a new bearing

Be careful to turn the bearing the right way up.

Press the bearing until it reaches the bottom using sleeve from screw press tool No. 87 91 261, or equivalent.
CAUTION: Be careful when the shaft is placed in the press not to damage the surface of the shaft.
