Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair

Removal

1. Lift the car.
2. Remove the return springs from the levers on the right and left-hand sides.
3. Press the rear guide sleeve out of the holder on the left and right-hand sides.
4. Press the front guide sleeve out of the bracket on the right-hand side.
5. Remove the cable from the levers.
6. Remove the nuts from the heat shield panel in front of the tank.
7. Disconnect the cable from the link rod. Remove the adjustment nut from the pull rod and fold under the cable equalization. Measure and note the

thread length on the pull rod.

8. Remove the rubber gaiter.
9. Lower the car and remove the driver seat and center console.

10. Remove the two handbrake securing bolts and the handbrake switch cable lug.

Lift out the handbrake unit.
