4. Put the No. 1 cylinder in the compression position (top dead centre).

The markings on the camshaft sprockets and timing cover should be in alignment as well as the marking on the crankshaft.

Insert the locking tools for the camshaft sprockets on the cylinder heads.
5. Before removing the toothed belt, mark its direction of rotation.

To facilitate refitting, the belt can be marked at the camshaft markings and also at the crankshaft marking.
6. Remove the tensioning roller and the two adjusting rollers and remove the toothed belt.
7. Turn the crankshaft back 60° Before Top Dead Center (BTDC).
8. Raise the car and remove the protective plate for the flywheel.

Install the flywheel stop.
9. Remove the crankshaft pulley and spacer ring.
10. Pry out the seal, taking care not to damage the sealing surface on the crankshaft.
