The engine accessory drive belt is a ribbed serpentine belt which turns the water pump and alternator for your vehicle. Under certain conditions an
incorrect belt could come loose or fall off. Should this occur, the engine will quickly overheat, and, if you did not stop and switch it off, extensive engine
damage will result. Belt disengagement will also cause the battery charge warning lamp to illuminate and the power assist for the steering to become
inoperative, increasing the effort needed to turn the steering wheel.
Citing this service campaign, we urge you to make an appointment with your Saab dealer as soon as possible to have your vehicle inspected and the drive
belt replaced, if it is of the incorrect specification. This work requires less than 30 minutes and will, of course, be done free of charge to you during the
warranty period.
