Front Camber Adjustment

Front Camber Adjustment

Note:  The camber can only be set within a very limited range by the measures described below.

1. Measure camber with computer-aided chassis alignment system.

Note:  The relevant front wheel must be freely suspended.

2. Raise the vehicle at front.
3. Remove the 2 bolted connections (1), spring strut support tube to steering knuckle.

4. Make the 2 bolted connections (1), spring strut support tube to steering knuckle.

Use the 2 new bolts.

*

Install the 2 new nuts.

5. Pull the top of front wheel outwards (arrow) and adjust maximum positive camber.

Caution:  Refer to Fastener Caution   (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution).

Note:  Tighten with reduced torque to create clamping effect between spring strut and steering knuckle.

6. Tighten the 2 bolted connections, spring strut support tube to steering knuckle.

Tighten the bolted connections to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

Note:  Camber changes in "negative" direction - move front wheel by hand if necessary.

7. Adjust the camber.

Slowly lower the vehicle onto the wheels. 

*

Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications   (See: Specifications).

*

When the specification has been achieved, tighten the 2 bolted connections, spring strut support tube to steering knuckle in 3 stages.

*

Tighten the 2 bolted connections 50 Nm (37 lb ft).

*

Tighten the 2 new screwed joint 85 Nm (63 lb ft).

*

Continue to tighten the 2 new screw connection 75 degrees plus 15 degrees.
