Removal Procedure

Note:

U18 XE petrol engine combined with AF17 automatic transmission; it is not possible to replace the boot on the transmission side, right axle
shaft with mass damper. A new half shaft, inner joint assembly with shaft and without outer joint, must be used. The constant velocity joint on
the wheel side must be removed during this process.

Tripod joints cannot be detached. To replace the boot on the transmission side, it is necessary to remove the constant velocity joint on the
wheel side.

1. Remove the axle shaft. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement   (See: Service and Repair).
2. Mark the position of the boot at the axle shaft side.
3. Remove the boot clamps for the boot on the transmission side (1).

4. Cut open the boot on axle shaft and remove.
