6. Detach the joint from the axle shaft.

Spread the retaining ring in the joint with the pliers.

Use the rubber hammer to drive the joint from shaft splines on shaft in direction of arrow.

Installation Procedure

1. Prepare the joint for fitting to axle shaft.

1. Wash out the cavities in the joint.
2. Insert the new retaining ring.
3. Fill cavities in the joint with special grease.

2. Slide on the new boot up to mark.
3. Carefully drive the joint onto the axle shaft using the rubber hammer until retaining ring engages.
4. Push the boot onto joint up to groove.
5. Attach the new retaining straps with J 22610    (1).
