Removal Procedure
Important: Prevent the crankshaft from rotating clockwise or counter-clockwise before using compressed air in the cylinder. Rotation of the
crankshaft may cause damage to J 43655.
1. If equipped, with a manual transmission leave the transmission in first gear with the vehicle on the ground and the parking brake set.
2. If equipped, with an automatic transmission, remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (LAT) ()Starter Motor Replacement (LZ4) (
)Starter Motor Replacement (LY7) ().
3. Install J 43653.
4. Remove the camshaft. Refer to Intake Camshaft and Valve Lifter Replacement (See: Camshaft, Lifters and Push Rods/Camshaft/Service and
Repair/Intake Camshaft and Valve Lifter Replacement) or Exhaust Camshaft and Valve Lifter Replacement (See: Camshaft, Lifters and Push
Rods/Camshaft/Service and Repair/Exhaust Camshaft and Valve Lifter Replacement).
5. Remove the camshaft roller followers.
6. Install the front section of the J 43649 to the second camshaft cover bolt hole.
