SUBJECT:
Information On Installation of Cellular Telephones and/or Other Electrical Accessories in Saturn Vehicles
Due to the addition of parasitic current draw information, this bulletin supercedes bulletin 93-T-O4A which should be discarded.
MODELS AFFECTED:
1991-1995 Saturns
PURPOSE:
Correct installation of electrical accessories such as cellular telephones, citizen band (CB) radios, security systems etc., in Saturn vehicles.
PROCEDURE:
1.
To obtain power (30 amp maximum) for accessory equipment, connections should be made directly to the battery:
^
Power and ground leads should be 5.0 mm (10 AWG) or larger and twisted if possible. The ground wire should not be attached to the body at
any point.
^
In-line fuse should be located on the power lead as near as practical to the battery.
^
Power and ground leads should be routed through the grommet at the front of dash located adjacent to the brake booster. Make sure that tape is
applied to completely seal grommet to the wires and body.
^
The illustration shows recommended connection of power feeds. Using AC-Delco Side Terminal Adaptor Package 1846855, with the long
battery terminal bolt (P/N 12011248) and contact spacer (P/N 12011249) will provide the simple, tight, corrosion resistant connection.
NOTE:
When installing the contact spacer, make sure that the smallest end is installed toward the battery cable.
