Service Information on Use of Aftermarket Valve Spring Removal and Installation Tools
MODELS AFFECTED:
1991-1995 Saturns
PURPOSE:
The use of aftermarket valve spring removal and installation tools may damage the valve stems on all Saturn engines and the lifter bores on DOHC (LL0)
engines. Saturn recommends the use of SA9124E, which is an essential tool, to remove and install valve springs on a Saturn vehicle.
Notice
All Engines - Damage to the valve stem may cut the valve stem oil seal assembly, resulting in oil consumption.
DOHC (LL0) Engines - Damage to the lifter bores may result in the valve lifter assembly not rotating properly. As a result, damage to the lifter assembly
face (camshaft lobe contact surface) may occur. Refer to the illustration.
