Audible Warning Device: Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
There are three separate chimes differing in frequency of chimes. The headlamp chime is the fast chime. The key minder chime is the medium chime.
The occupant restraint (passive restraint as well as lapbelt) chime is the slow chime.
1.
With the ignition off and the driver's door open, turn the headlamp switch to HEADLAMPS on. The headlamp chime (fast chime) should come on
and turn off when the door is closed.
2.
If the drivers door is open, and the key has been inserted in the ignition, rotated to accessory and back to lock, the key minder chime (medium
chime) should come on and turn off when the door is closed.
3.
Turn the ignition to run. With either the driver's passive restraint or driver's lapbelt, or both, unbuckled, once the driver's shoulder belt slider gets to
the B pillar, the occupant restraint chime (slow chime) should turn on.
4.
With the driver's occupant restraints buckled, turn the ignition to run. There should be no occupant restraint chime.
