Canister Purge Solenoid: Service and Repair
Cannister Purge Solenoid
Cannister Purge Solenoid - Typical Location.
Cannister Purge Valve.
CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with a SIR system, disable the SIR system. SEE SERVICE PRECAUTIONS/ VEHICLE DAMAGE
WARNINGS/ DISABLING-ENABLING THE SIR SYSTEM.
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect negative battery cable.
2.
Remove air intake tube and resonator.
3.
Disconnect canister purge solenoid electrical connector and vacuum hose.
NOTE: The canister purge solenoid can be accessed on the MFI engine by reaching through the access hole provided next to the intake manifold
support bracket.
4.
Remove attachment bolt and canister purge solenoid.
5.
Remove air cleaner housing and clean air inlet tube/resonator assembly.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install attachment bolt and canister purge solenoid.
^ Torque: 25 Nm (19 ft lbs)
2.
Connect electrical connector to canister purge solenoid. Push in connector until a click is heard and pull back to confirm a positive engagement.
