Passenger Compartment Cross Beam: Service and Repair
Bar Dash Panel Cross Car

BAR DASH PANEL CROSS CAR

CAUTION:  A PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSES BENDING OF THE I/P CROSS CAR BEAM BRACKETS THAT CAN
AFFECT A SECOND AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND INJURE PASSENGERS. TO HELP AVOID INJURY TO PASSENGERS, ALWAYS
REPLACE THE I/P CROSS CAR BEAM BEFORE REPLACING A DEPLOYED PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE.

REMOVAL

1. Remove instrument panel.
2. Remove steering wheel and steering column fasteners.
3. Remove beam assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. Install cross car beam assembly into position.
2. Insert Cockpit Assembly Aid (J43894) into front body hinge pillar. Install cross car beam fasteners.

Torque:  Cross Car Beam Fasteners: 25 N.m (19 ft.lbs)

3. Install steering column.
4. Install instrument panel.

When the vehicle is completely reassembled, performance check the following systems:

5. Install steering wheel.

All electrical systems.

-

Braking systems.

-

HVAC system.

-

Steering system.

-

Water leak test modular dash and windshield. Check all seams for water leaks and air leaks.

Engine cooling system.

-

Engine air intake system.
