Disabling

SIR DISABLE/ENABLE PROCEDURE (FOR FRONTAL AND CURTAIN INFLATORS) 

CAUTION: WHEN YOU ARE PERFORMING SERVICE ON OR NEAR THE SIR COMPONENTS OR THE SIR WIRING, YOU MUST
DISABLE THE SIR SYSTEM. REFER TO RESTRAINT SYSTEMS. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE CORRECT PROCEDURE COULD
CAUSE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, PERSONAL INJURY, OR UNNECESSARY SIR SYSTEM REPAIRS. 

DISABLING THE FRONTAL AND CURTAIN INFLATORS 

1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn ignition switch to the OFF position and remove key.
3. Remove IGN1 mini-fuse from under hood fuse block.

Disabling the Frontal Inflators 

4. Remove lower left L/P closeout panel.
5. Push out clips that secure the driver and passenger inflator module (YEL 2-way) connectors to L/P panel brace.
6. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) retainers.

7. Disconnect both (YEL 2-way) connectors.
