Service Manual Update for All the 2000 L-Series HVAC Service Manuals
MODELS AFFECTED:
2000 Saturn L-Series Sedans and Wagons
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bulletin is to update all the 2000 L-Series HVAC Service Manuals at your location.
Obtain all the 2000 L-Series HVAC Service Manuals at your location and update as indicated in this bulletin.
Some early model L-Series vehicles were charged with 0.850 kg (1.875 lbs.) of refrigerant. The refrigerant charge level is displayed on the A/C charge
label found on the radiator tie bar. A new charge level of 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.) has been developed. Vehicles built with 0.850 kg (1.875 lbs.) of refrigerant
charge should be charged to 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.) when the A/C system is serviced. The A/C charge label should also be replaced with the new 0.950 kg
label (P/N 24421551). The diagnostic system condition charts account for this change and should be used for both charge levels.
IMPORTANT:
In order to accurately charge A/C systems on vehicles, the charging station should be set up to display refrigerant weight in kilograms. The displayed
unit of measure can be changed by pressing the Shift/Reset and Enter buttons at the same time. The display will be blank. Press 0. The display will
indicate the current unit of measure. Pressing Enter will alternate between "LBS" and "KG." When "KG" appears, press Shift/Reset. Failure to
display the weight in kilograms will result in loss of accuracy due to the two decimal place limitation of the charging station display.

The following pages need to have the A/C charge level corrected to indicate the new 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.) charge level.

On page 14, in FLUID CAPACITIES table, change R134a Refrigerant charge to 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.).

On page 26, under second bullet in middle of page, change charge values to 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.).

On page 27, under second bullet in middle of page, change charge values to 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.).

On page 37, under second bullet in middle of page, change charge values to 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.).

On page 38, under second bullet in middle of page, change charge values to 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.).

On page 71, under step 1 of "CHARGING THE A/C SYSTEM" procedure, change 0.50 kg (1 lb.) to 0.50 kg (1.10 lbs.).

- Change 0.50 kg (1 lb.) to 0.50 kg (1.10 lbs.).
- Change .35 kg (.875 lb.) to 0.45 kg (0.995 lbs.).
- Change .850 kg (1.875 lbs.) to 0.950 kg (2.09 lbs.).
