Transmission Mount: Description and Operation
The Saturn powertrain mounting system is a neutral torque axis mount system. It features four mounts:

Two which support the weight of the powertrain

Two which control powertrain torque motions
The left side transaxle mount is located on top of the transaxle. The mount supports the weight of the engine and transaxle along with the left side
engine mount. The mount attaches directly to the body and attaches to the transaxle through two brackets. The first bracket is attached to the mount,
the second bracket is bolted directly to the transaxle.
The engine mount is located on the right side of the vehicle high on the powertrain, between the engine front cover and the right side body midrail.
The engine mount together with the right side transaxle mount supports the weight of the powertrain The mount attaches to the engine front cover with
an aluminum bracket, and attaches to the body through a bracket bolted to the underside of the mount.
The front transaxle mount is located in the front of the engine compartment low on the powertrain. This mount is referred to as a torque reaction
mount. The purpose of this mount is to limit powertrain vibration and pitch. The front transaxle mount is bolted directly to the transaxle and attaches
to the frame with a through bolt.
The rear mount is located in the rear of the engine compartment low on the powertrain This mount is also called a torque reaction mount, and along
with the front transaxle mount, controls vibration and pitch of the engine. The rear transaxle mount is attached directly to the frame on automatic
transaxles and directly to the transaxle on manual transaxles. The rear transaxle mount is attached to the frame by a bracket and through bolt.
