Brake Pad: Service and Repair
Brake Pads Replacement - Rear
REMOVAL
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON HOIST.
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove rear wheel and tire assemblies.
3. Drive out brake pad retaining pins from outside-to-inside, remove pins and retaining spring.
4. Remove brake pads.
5. Inspect:
a. Brake pad retaining pins for deterioration or damage. If damaged, replace.
b. Brake pad retaining spring for deterioration or damage. If damaged, replace.
c. Brake caliper piston seal for leakage or damage. If damaged, overhaul caliper.
INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: Never replace brake pads on one side of axle only. Left and right side brake pads must be replaced as axle sets.
