Service Manual Update for 2000 and 2001 Series (L81) Engine Service Manuals Regarding Thread Sealant Application to Thermostat Housing Bolts
During Installation
MODELS AFFECTED:
2000 - 2001 Saturn L-Series Vehicles
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bulletin is to update all 2000 and 2001 L-Series (L81) Engine Service Manuals at your location.
Please obtain all the 2000 and 2001 L-Series (L81) Engine Service Manuals and make necessary updates as indicated below.
1.
On page 831 of both service manuals, locate step 1 of the "Thermostat Inlet Housing and Element" installation procedure.
2.
Write in the following after the second bullet:
Apply thread sealant PSI 565(R) (or equivalent) to bolt threads.
3.
On pages 748 of the 2000 L-Series and page 745 of the 2001 L-Series (L81) Engine Service Manuals, locate step 1 of the "Coolant Outlet Housing
and Thermostat (Unit Repair)" installation procedure.
4.
Write in the following after step 1:
Apply thread sealant PST 565(R) (or equivalent) to bolt threads.
