Service Wrench Telltale On With DTCs P0480/P0481 Set and/or 30A COOL FAN #1 Fuse Open (Repair Chafed Engine Cooling Fan Wire)
MODELS AFFECTED:
2000 Saturn L-Series vehicles
CONDITION
Some customers may comment of any of the following conditions:

Service Wrench telltale is On
^
Engine Coolant Temperature telltale is On
^
Coolant temperature gauge needle is in the red zone
^
30A COOL FAN # 1 fuse located in under hood fuse block (UHFB) is open
CAUSE
Puller fan (driver side) wiring harness, which contains three wires, may chafe on aluminum upper radiator mount.
CORRECTION
Repair chafed engine cooling fan wire(s)
PROCEDURE
1.
Inspect wiring to cooling fan 1 (puller fan, driver side) at location shown in diagram for damage.

If damage of wiring is evident continue to step 2.

If damage is not evident refer to appropriate DTC information or other diagnostic charts in the Engine/Emissions Controls section of the 2000
L-Series L61 or L81 Service Manual.
