Canister Vent Valve: Description and Operation
The Vent Solenoid is part of the fresh air vent hose and pipe assembly routed to the vent port on the EVAP Canister. This solenoid allows fresh air to
enter the canister during purge modes. It is the vent to atmospheric pressure that allows fuel vapors generated in the tank to be routed and stored in the
EVAP canister. It is also used during diagnostics to close the system and allow vacuum (negative pressure) to be applied to the fuel tank as a system
integrity check. The vent solenoid is normally open.
